Brunswick police Lt. Robert Safran told Fox 8 Cleveland that the man inside the barricaded house is the suspect in the murders of Taylor Pifer, 21, Kylie Pifer, 18, and their mother Suzanne Taylor, 45.
Authorities confirmed a stun gun was ultimately used to subdue the suspect.
The three women likely died Saturday at their home on Ridge Road in North Royalton, police said. Brinkman was arrested at approximately 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Investigators said Taylor suffered a stab wound, with police yet to release the cause of death of her two daughters.
"They were friendly enough with him that they were comfortable with him watching their home while they were on vacation", Maier said.
Brinkman, who was allegedly armed with a handgun, refused to leave the home for at least eight hours and police were heard talking to him through a loudspeaker in the early hours of Tuesday, the Plain Dealer reports.

The Stark County Sheriff's Office said it has secured arrest warrants for Brinkman for two counts of murder for the Johns' deaths.
"Taylor was majoring in fashion design, while Kylie was involved in theater and was majoring in forensic science". They say a woman who was in the house with him was unharmed.
Officials said George Brinkman dated the Johns' daughter and previously worked at their family business.
Court records show no violent history for Brinkman in either Stark or Cuyahoga counties.
