At the council's cabinet meeting on Monday night, deputy leader Councillor Alison Butler announced that the council will install fire sprinklers in all council blocks that have 10, 11 or 12 storeys. Our cladding is a different material, not Aluminium Composite Material, and is fitted in a different way to the cladding on Grenfell Tower. ACM with a polyethylene core, used to clad Grenfell Tower, is less fire-resistant.
"We have had so much support for the local community and we can not thank everyone enough". This is fire proof as the insulation is mineral and rock wool, with fire breaks at the floor and party walls. However, we can not confirm what the core of the ACM cladding is made up of.
"People have been sleeping in cars and in parks because they don't know where to go and they aren't being looked after", the newly minted Labour MP told Sky News.
Dave Curry, chief officer for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, said sprinklers are a "proven" way to prevent the spread of fire in buildings and can "drastically reduce the threat to life". At the meeting, the council also reportedly promised further updates on sprinklers and communal fire alarms, which are not now installed.
"I'm anxious that former Grenfell Tower residents, who have very good reasons for refusing an offer of accommodation, because of potential difficulties with work, schooling, medical appointments, or their social network, may be penalised as a result", he said.

"Now, every building is different".
"Grenfell Tower was a fire on an unprecedented scale, but those living in high-rise blocks will now understandably feel concern around their safety". Authorities may never be able to identify some of the victims, he said.
Cllr Rodwell added: "Our officers have been out visiting blocks to reassure residents that we're taking this seriously and to ensure that communal areas are clear of anything that could block a fire escape route".
Grenfell tower was retrofitted with cladding at the cost of $12.8 million in 2015.
Protests erupted across the capital on Friday night as fury came to a head over the help and information given to Grenfell residents.
