Andy Murray, the defending champion, has been knocked out of Wimbledon in the quarter-finals following a 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 6-1 defeat by Sam Querrey, the American, on Centre Court.

Second seed Djokovic needed to win the title to return to the top of the rankings, but an elbow injury saw him pull out in the second set of his quarter-final against Tomas Berdych.

"I'm still in a state of shock". "Our bodies have taken a lot physically".

Effervescent Roger Federer moved serenely into the Wimbledon semi-finals a few weeks before his 36th birthday and then expressed his concern for two stricken rivals on Wednesday.

Williams, 37, is the only 2016 Wimbledon semi-finalist to reach the last four again.

"Sam served great. The end of the fourth set and fifth set, I felt like he hardly missed any first serves". The suit claims coach Hugh Freeze and other school officials created a "false narrative" in an effort to place primary blame on Nutt for the NCAA investigation instead of Freeze. The couple, who married in 2015, already have a one-year-old daughter named Sophia. He's right outside of the big four. "And everything kind of seemed to be falling my way then".

Cilic progressed to the semi-finals 3-6 7-6 7-5 5-7 6-1 in a match that lasted around three and a half hours. We couldn't even run the marathon in the Olympics before 1984; some sceptics thought our uteruses might drop out if we jiggled them about too much.

Murray was further lauded on social media for his response.

Querrey is the first American man in the semi-finals of a Grand Slam since Andy Roddick finished runner-up at Wimbledon in 2009. "He watches more than I do and makes me feel bad".

Serving at break point down, Murray exchanges backhands with the Yank, then switches play across the baseline.

Head to head: Cilic 4-0, including 3-0 on grass. But I tried my best right to the end.

Speaking about his emotions being similar to last year, Querrey said, "Yeah, it was similar. It was an opportunity and I'm sad it's over".

"I'd say the US Open would be 50/50 at a guess".

"I was doing fitness with my fitness coach and after like 10 minutes, I looked at him and said, I don't know what we're doing in Paris seriously".

"I was pretty close today". "He's been struggling not only to string matches together in tournaments but also to get the foundation from the practice court and gym".

Almost, but not quite enough.

Even with his hip problem, Murray had baffled observers and opponents alike by walking with a slight limp but running as if nothing were wrong. There is no such thing as a three-set limit during labour; mine made even Gilles Muller's 15-13 victory over Rafael Nadal look speedy.

As the match wore on, the hitch in Murray's step became more pronounced, his shots less effective. She is trying to become the host country's first female champion at the All England Club in 40 years.
