Walker"We need to get trophies left right and centre

Trippier is 26 years of age and has been the second-choice right-back at Tottenham for the past two seasons following his move from Burnley in the summer of 2015. Well, actually, it was me who did most of the talking.

The Portuguese international featured in 24 of Nice's Ligue Un fixtures in 2016/17, making his 100th league appearance during the early part of the season. He has also been capped twice by Portugal at a senior level recently, which only goes to show quickly he is improving his form. The club's other significant piece of transfer business was the £35m paid out to Benfica for goalkeeper Ederson.

On Thursday, widespread reports emerged over a £50m transfer fee being agreed between Manchester City and Spurs for Kyle Walker.

City are in the market for a new right-back having released Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna earlier this summer.

The 27-year-old England ace is set to more than double his wages with the move the Etihad.

Opted to join City after emerging as one of European football's hottest prospects in his native Germany with Schalke.

"Hopefully one day I'll get to play for Sheffield United in the Premier League, hopefully that's a dream that can come true", Walker, who has won 23 England caps, said.

Pep, however, was duped by Dani Alves who at the last minute joined St-Germain on Wednesday.

Unfortunately for all concerned though, despite the Tottenham boss wanting to avoid waiting until the last minute of the window to strengthen this time round, no deals look imminent and so the waiting game may continue for a little while longer.
