The retired life was not for Jay Cutler. "Adam [Gase] knows kind of what I've been up to, so we'll figure it out along the way".
"I think he [Adam Gase] does a good job of putting quarterbacks in really good positions", Cutler said.
Glennon said he's likely to keep an eye on Cutler "as a fan" and given that many of Cutler's former teammates, he said, have been talking about his return to the league since the news broke. Just a season removed from working with Gase in Chicago, Cutler should not have much trouble picking up the offense.
Enter Cutler, who made a decision to walk away from the game for the Fox broadcast booth once he ascertained a starting position wasn't going to be there for him this season. He threw the most wonderful surprise party and made me feel so special and loved and I will forever be grateful for this man, my family, and all my fantastic friends.
"I told him I was good to go".
He joked, "I think she got exhausted of me around the house".More news: Barcelona given green light in Philippe Coutinho pursuit by Liverpool — Transfer News
Cutler said Dolphins coach Adam Gase called him last week, asked him if he was in good enough shape to play this season, and when Cutler said he was, they quickly agreed that they could make it work. What will Cutler's learning curve be with the offensive scheme?
Cutler's past experience with Gase will be valuable as he tries to learn the Dolphins playbook in a relatively short amount of time.
"I'm sure he wasn't in the backyard throwing a hundred balls a day", the coach said.
"That's good. It's good for Jay", he said. I'm not anxious about that "my arm and throwing" part. "Getting used to the guys and the more detailed stuff, that's what we're going to have to hit the fast-forward button on".
Cutler did not practice Monday as backup Matt Moore took all the first-team reps.
On Monday, Gase confirmed that Cutler will not play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Like most teams, losing their starting quarterback has really deflated the Dolphins. When we departed, we wish it went a different way. "I think he's a great guy", said Bushrod. "There weren't a lot of opportunities or jobs out there, if they would have came up I would have taken, but this has got to be at the top of the list".
