Olivier Giroud scored late in the game as Arsenal rallied several times to beat Leicester City in the first game of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

"They had two half-chances and put them in and we had to chase again and I thought going in at 2-2 at half-time it was our advantage, but then the corner gave them the advantage again and we had to chase again".

Jamie Vardy scored to put Leicester ahead just before the half-four mark after a cross from Marc Albrighton, while the bad Leicester centre-back (at least on this day) allowed Danny Welbeck to equalize.

Giroud, who had been the subject of interest from Everton and West Ham earlier in the summer, won the game with his 99th goal for Arsenal with only minutes remaining.

"We wanted someone who would play attacking, attractive football, that is a core part of this football club, and finally someone who would give young players a chance".

However, Wenger introduced Ramsey and Giroud and they both changed the game.

"I opened the door for him at some stage [to leave], because I know that it's important for him to play", Wenger said in his postgame news conference. He is a fantastic guy who loves the club. I rate him as a player but we have similar types with [Alex] Iwobi and [Jack] Wilshere back. We love him and in the end he chose to stay.

Arsenal's win leaves them at the top of the table, for now.

"If you look at the third goal, I'm a bit disappointed with the handball leading up to it but that aside, once you get the corner, you have to defend it better".

"Rob Holding is a great defender but he lost some of his confidence after the second goal". He got on the end of an excellent cross from Mohamed Elneny to stun the visitors with his second touch of the game.

The game was a real thriller, as Arsenal came back from being down 2-1 and 3-2.

Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic have been brought into help in to boost their title challenge, with the United boss looking to continue his remarkable record of winning the league in his second campaign in all five spells in charge of a major club. "We have top quality". "I didn't want to take a gamble with Ramsey and glad he didn't get injured".

Giroud was the match victor for Arsenal.
