No other evacuations are being ordered in the state. "It's my first time getting out of my house because of what's going on", says Ana Monterrosa.

Florida residents and those in Georgia and SC who are being told to evacuate their homes can pick up tickets for themselves and members of their immediate families on Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET across from Gate 9 at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

According to this map from the National Hurricane Center, although Georgia is in the cone of probability for the center of the storm, South and North Carolina are barely within that cone.

Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner will hold a press conference today at 6:30 p.m.

"This storm is wider than our entire state and is expected to create major and life threatening impacts from coast to coast", Gov. Scott said.

A mandatory evacuation order for coastal communities goes into effect at 8 a.m. Saturday, with all four lanes of Interstate 16 going westbound at that point. Despite the apparent reprieve the state may receive thanks to Irma's new track, North Carolina governor Roy Cooper says residents should remain prepared.

McMaster said that there will be shelters opened in the three affected counties only.

The most recent forecast tracks from the National Hurricane Center have shifted the track of the storm to the west, predicting it will go across the Florida Peninsula and then into Georgia. But Derrec Becker with the South Carolina Emergency Management Division said the path is too uncertain for people to relax.

Mayor Curry may have another neighborhood awareness event Friday afternoon, but conditions are expected to deteriorate Saturday, as storm planning moves into another phase. This has significant consequences for both the east and west coasts of Florida.

McMaster also said he plans to allow local school districts to decide whether to close next week and he has rescinded part of his order Thursday evacuating patients from healthcare facilities in a number of counties.
