In Northern Michigan meteorologists at the National Weather Service are gathering essential data to help track the path of Hurricane Irma. The forecast is very hard beyond that point. Bartman said OH soldiers will head to Florida beginning next week and will be available for as many as 30 days.

The 38th was called to assist in managing the flow of personnel and resources into and out of Hurricane Harvey impacted areas, sending over 80 personnel to Texas.

Williamsburg area officials are calling for residents to plan ahead for any impacts related to Hurricane Irma.

So far, Irma is being shoved westward by a high-pressure area over the western Atlantic. Winds in the gradient between high pressure to the north & Irma to the south will initially result in increasing winds across the coastal waters Saturday into Sunday from a northeasterly direction with possible Gales. Hurricane Jose, the 3rd MAJOR hurricane of the season is moving west and should start a turn to the northwest by the weekend. This would give forecasters a better sense of how strong and deep the trough over the eastern USA will be.

There were as many questions as answers Friday as local first responders made preparations to respond to potential impacts from the storm. Plenty more sunshine can be expected with a few passing afternoon clouds.

Florida, along with both Carolinas and Georgia, has already declared a state of emergency as they brace for impact from the Category 4 storm and its 155 miles per hour winds.

The current track of Irma will likely bring the possibility of 4-6 inches of rain across Florence County, said Levi James of the Florence County Emergency Management Division.
