Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of Saturday's home Premier League match against Liverpool with a calf injury, his manager Pep Guardiola said on Friday.

Barcelona director Albert Soler claimed Liverpool's demands were closer to £180m. And it quickly punctured the optimism gathering around Liverpool following a 4-0 victory over Arsenal before the worldwide break.

"We have to take the first 20 minutes and how we played before the global break and take it into the next game", Mignolet said.

Mane was subsequently given his marching orders by referee Jon Moss, though fans and pundits alike were immediately divided over whether the decision was the correct one or not.

Goalkeeper Mignolet said: "We have to take the first 20 minutes and how we played before the global break and take it into the next game". We had this conversation. He came back long flight, 15 minutes here, 15 minutes there, three weeks without training.

"We play so high that the 'keeper has to play around the 60-yard mark to help us defend a little bit".

"So I have chose to leave him out of the squad for City".

Guardiola has made it clear that Sergio Aguero can not expect to play every game this season, insisting there will be times when he favours Jesus ahead of the Argentine striker.

"I think everyone knows he didn't see the goalie. It was a good conversation".

And Klopp is confident there will be no problem reintegrating Coutinho as he did not seek a move to Liverpool's Merseyside rival. "It's not the first time and it won't be the last time that similar things will happen".

"I think it has not broken the bone". But nothing I am aware of was unforgivable. "Not all the things in newspapers were 100 percent right but it is normal a lot of things were coming up in a situation like this".

'Then it would have been different I would say.

Philippe Coutinho will be in the squad when we take on Sevilla next Wednesday.

It is understandable that any player dreams of playing for a world elite team like FC Barcelona, but Coutinho's actions towards his current club were disrespecful.

Liverpool and Manchester City are renowned for their attacking firepower, but the match exposed a shoddy defence of both the teams. Used substitutes - James Milner (6.09), Dominic Solanke (six points), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (5.60).
