According to reports, Paddock requested any room "with a view" and the dates of his stay matched the dates of the festival, from August 3 to August 6.

According to some of the media reports about Paddock's potential target list, Paddock could not find a clear line of sight into Fenway Park from a nearby hotel. His rooms were at Chicago's Blackstone Hotel, across the street from Grant Park, the site of the festival. As CrimeOnline previously reported, the couple met at a Nevada casino where Marliou worked as a hostess for VIP players. Ultimately he did not appear for his reservation.

Among the revellers at the August festival were former President Barack Obama's daughters, Malia and Sasha.

Paddock was found dead in his hotel room after SWAT teams stormed the building.

Boston Police said they're aware of the reports and are working with federal authorities to determine the extent of the research that was done and what Paddock's plans may have been.

It's unclear what locations in Boston Paddock looked into, but NBC News' Pete Williams suggests that, like in Las Vegas, the 64-year-old shooter was considering into hotels overlooking outdoor festivals. "We can confirm that a reservation was made under the name Stephen Paddock, however authorities have not confirmed that this is the same person as the Las Vegas shooter". The dates he was there corresponded with the "Life is Beautiful" music festival, which was held September 22-24. Chance the Rapper was one of the featured acts on the program.

The gunman had a camera set up in his hotel room, apparently to record himself during the mass shooting. Paddock's suite, which typically costs $590 a night, was comped because he was a good customer, the source said.

"We don't know yet".

Sheriff Lombardo said police believe the "disturbed and dangerous" Paddock planned to survive the shooting and escape, but did not reveal how. They also said they still have no motive for the attack.

"I think about it from the perspective that if it happened now, how do you get out of where you are?" he said.
