Meryl Streep BLASTS Harvey Weinstein after sacking

Big time Hollywood movie producer, Harvey Weinstein, is starring in his own real life drama.

Sure, the Weinstein Company's board fired Harvey Weinstein, but only after the New York Times investigation sparked enough outrage for people to speak up and say, "enough is enough".

Kate Winslet has joined the growing number of Hollywood elite who have spoken out against Harvey Weinstein, calling the famed producer's alleged sexual harassment "disgraceful and appalling". NPR's Andrew Limbong reports.

She received the Designer Icon Award, in recognition of 'her outstanding work as one of the most influential fashion designers in the a versatile Innovator, and a pioneer designer in women's wear and American fashion among other fashion and film icons'. When the remaining members of the board asked Weinstein to quit, he refused and flew from NY to Los Angeles to fight for his job, also refusing to be bought out of the company. Kim Masters, editor-at-large for The Hollywood Reporter, was among those who investigated the incident. She said she quickly rejected his offer and hung up.

KIM MASTERS: Once this started, you kind of knew there was going to be more and more and more.

Late night hosts Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel also held back, even though they came out blasting when the same focus was on O'Reilly, who until this year was the top-rated commentator on Fox News. "If everybody knew, I don't believe that all the investigative reporters in the entertainment and the hard news media would have neglected for decades to write about it".

"I mean this is a pretty bad guy who did some really terrible things", Murphy said.

One board member, Lance Maerov, in an email obtained by The Times, wrote that Bloom was "fanning the flames and compounding the problem", and asked that she step away from her representation of Weinstein himself.

She went on to emphasize the "demeaning part of it all", which stuck with her strongly.

The 69-year-old went on to say that the issue at hand is not exclusively Weinstein's fault.

Weinstein was also protected by sheer force of character. I mean, it may have to change the name.

Harvey Weinstein has denied numerous allegations against him, but in such a convoluted and incoherent manner that it is not too soon to conclude his behaviour over the course of a storied career has, at times, been disgusting.

Weinstein and his brother, Bob, co-founded The Weinstein 2005. "When we got down to the kitchen, it was empty..." Matt Damon and Russell Crowe allegedly applied some of this pressure, vouching for Weinstein directly to Waxman. Why is it always this?

"My board is thinking of firing me", it reads. "I could really use your support or just your honesty if you can't support me".

The Weinstein Co. board of directors on Sunday fired Weinstein after an expose detailing decades of sexual harassment. Streep has worked with Weinstein in the past. His attorney has threatened to sue The NY Times for defamation over their initial story.

They had initially had what she remembered as a good conversation, but things quickly changed.

MASTERS: This is still a male-dominated business. "I didn't know about these other offenses". In the subsequent years since then I did not hear about further pay-offs or harassment and thought the issue was in the past.
