Through six games, Nebraska quarterback Tanner Lee is completing 54 percent of his passes - 109-for-202 for 1,406 yards and 11 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions.
It didn't turn out that way. The Badgers improved to 5-0 and 2-0 in the conference. On a night when Nebraska honored the 1997 national title team, it was the Badgers who exerted their will at the line of scrimmage as the game wore on, outgaining Nebraska 466-381 overall.
Taylor also won both awards after his 223-yard, three-touchdown performance against Florida Atlantic on September 9. "A great opportunity for us, but they very mechanically, methodically, physically controlled the ball on the ground".
Said linebacker Luke Gifford: "We had a few spurts there where we missed a lot of tackles that matter".
A punishing running attack and a top-notch defense - it's classic Wisconsin.
[Points to Stanley Morgan Jr. staying late to practice catching with the jug machine] "Just like that", he said. "We've got to keep the hits down, we had eight hits, and that's too many, we only gave up a sack, but that's too many hits on the quarterback too".
The Huskers were hurt by a pick-six by Wisconsin's Chris Orr on the opening drive when they were in scoring position.
While the offense in general and the running game in particular were noteworthy, Wisconsin's defense also bounced back from a shaky first half in which it allowed more than 300 yards. Like I said, just talking with the linemen seeing if our run fits. And we did. We executed well that drive.
"We talked a lot about it today - about really being feast or starvation", Langsdorf said. "You know we started off with a situation where you absolutely can't have against Wisconsin". We just didn't come out with a win.

Devine Ozigbo had 112 yards on 23 carries for the Huskers. Both were career highs for Spielman.
"Mechanically, methodically, physically", Riley said. They've got good cover guys that play a lot of press. "It meant something for him to contribute because I think he's done a nice job of coming into this team and being a part of this team".
"Especially on the O-line, I think we're built for stuff like this because it's happened to us before", Deiter said. "Especially early in the game, I thought we did that really, really well". Taylor barreled into the end zone on a 2-yard plunge with 9:08 left in the game to make it 31-17.
You could just feel the energy deflate from the party balloons.
I-back Mikale Wilbon was held out of the game with an ankle injury.
