Since before his inauguration, President Donald Trump promoted plans to repeal and replace Obamacare.
"It's hard having to tell people that we don't know what will happen to health care", said Darlice Rocha, a navigator with the Public Health Management Corporation on hand at the enrollment fair at the Free Library's central branch on Friday. The enrollment period is shorter this year. It's not. But you've got to be quick this year to sign up.
The researchers found that well-visit rates increased from 41 percent pre-ACA to 48 percent post-ACA implementation (odds ratio, 1.3), with minority and low-income groups having the greatest increases. That number was frequently cited by Trump as proof of the failings of Obamacare.
"Don't be put off by these headlines about screaming premium increases", says Kaiser Family Foundation health policy analyst Karen Pollitz. The legislation is meant to be the first step in health care reform.

Josh Peck, the chief marketing officer for open enrollment under the Obama administration, told TPM that years of data showed him that those two messages were major enrollment drivers. But you probably know someone who bought a healthcare.gov plan past year.

Kentuckians who want individual or family coverage can still enroll in a plan through the federally run Healthcare.gov website, but some incorrectly assume the coverage is gone, Beauregard said. She said the lack of communication and misinformation from the Trump administration makes the effort from outside groups more important than ever.
"Obamacare is finished. It's dead".
"People really need to go on and see what's offered for 2018, especially this year with all the publicity and politics going on with it", said Nancy Kucharz, a Certified Application Counselor with Eagle View Community Health System in Oquawka. The open enrollment deadline is December 15.

"Last year, 40 percent of our enrollees were new, and we're on pace to match that again", O'Toole said.
