Miami Dolphins Quarterback Jay Cutler Clears Concussion Protocol, to Start Against the Broncos on Sunday

A smile stretched across as his face, as if he could feel a change coming. When general manager John Elway referred to his team as soft, he had every right to.

Folks, the Dolphins even got a touchdown from tight end Julius Thomas, who has been something of a disappointment this season. The special teams units also struggled, allowing a blocked punt, failing to recover their own onside kick attempt, losing a fumble on a kick for a safety and allowing Miami to recover an onside kick attempt of their own. They were a source of pride for the city.

Once again Sunday, despite some early success in the run game, the Broncos played snap after snap of three-wide receiver personnel groupings and watched the mistakes pile up.

Jay Cutler, who has pitched only two complete games in the past six weeks because of injuries, will be back in the lineup for Miami. Hopefully, nobody ralphed too much on the plane and everyone remembers to wash their hands. Will the Broncos defense get to Cutler and the Miami offense?

Miami's defense held quarterback Trevor Siemian to 20 of 42 passing for 219 yards and three interceptions.

Broncos' losing streak reaches 8 after 35-9 loss to Dolphins; first losing season since 2010

The Dolphins are 30th in the NFL in turnover ratio and the Broncos are 31st. When I'm seeing all my guys go out there to work and just sitting in there in the training room, it gets lonely in there. He'll be replaced by Zack Kerr, who had five tackles, including two for a loss, last week.

The Broncos took a rare lead with a 31-yard field goal from Brandon McManus with 13:28 left in the second quarter. And cornerback Chris Harris notched his second interception of the season when he spun around in coverage, tipped a pass, then regained possession before hitting the ground. The coaching matchup might be the most compelling aspect of an otherwise unsightly game between teams trying to end season-spoiling slumps. But it's all going to come back to the quarterback this offseason, as the Broncos have fallen so fast, so hard, after their Super Bowl 50 win to close out the 2015 season. Cutler threw for 235 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

For once this year, full fun broke out across a Dolphins afternoon.

It's a pity that two of the more disappointing teams in the NFL are playing on such a spectacular day. Miami got a lot of pressure on Tom Brady and they need to keep that up against Denver.

What can't be disputed is the Broncos have not been getting good play from their quarterback position.
