Christmas chaos: busiest shopping day of the year hits Maritimes

Last-minute shoppers hitting stores on final weekend before Christmas

Time dwindling down for last minute Christmas shopping

More people are waiting until the last minute to shop, according to research by GlobalData Retail, which found that fewer shoppers had finished buying gifts for adults in the last week before Christmas this year than in the previous two years.

Monica Dirocco says she's a pro at last minute shopping. For some, it's the only time they have off before the big day. The mall is open from 7 A-M to 6 P-M Sunday but is closed on Christmas day.

In what has been dubbed "Super Saturday", the remaining days before Christmas can be even more profitable than Black Friday.

Sheil and Vanek were among those to stop at SouthPointe Pavilions on Saturday afternoon to finish their holiday shopping.

Lynn Carpenter, of Shawnee Township, was one of those shoppers finishing up her family's Christmas list.

Procrastinators don't fear! There were still parking spots available, which is good news for everyone, whether you're just swinging by to pick up an online order, or if you chose today to start your shopping.

On Saturday stores were crowded as shoppers picked out last minute holiday gifts.

"A lot of it's been online, you know, but when we get time to come out and walk around".

"One of the things we use to judge our traffic and our sales is what happens at our Santa Clause set", said Ed Jaroszewicz, the Marketing Director of SouthPark Mall.

Businesses in Clinton and around the country are set for a busy weekend ahead as last-minute shoppers head to local shops and stores to find their friends and loved ones the flawless gift with just days to spare.

"We've had a lot of men coming in doing last-minute shopping", she said.

"It's super fun to get out with my girls and shop with them", she said.
