Facebook-owned Instagram has reportedly rolled out a new feature that allows users to check when a user was active last time.
In order for you to see who is active, you have to have messaged them in a DM.
Go to the app's settings.
You will find a new option called Type, swiping right in your Instagram feed to open the Camera. The feature is only accessible in the Direct inbox though, so it won't be displayed in the main app to all followers. But I can see the Show Activity Status option in my settings, meaning the feature could be a server-side change.
How To Get Rid Of Instagram's Creepy New 'Active' Status Feature
Instagram now shows when a person has last been active on the app. Photo: Denisse Moreno, screenshot. The timestamps let you see up to the minute someone used the service. But what separates this feature on Instagram from Facebook Messenger is the ability to turn off like WhatsApp.
They said: "The Skygofree Android implant is one of the most powerful spyware tools that we have ever seen for this platform". To add all the details, according to an Instagram spokesperson's speech, "We're always working on ways to make it easier to have fun, real-time conversations with friends on Instagram". Now, everyone will know you're actively ignoring them. Do we really need it or Instagram should come up with some other interesting features? Tap the toggle next to it to disable the feature. You can't also display the read receipts.
Now you don't have to worry about the world knowing about your Instagram addiction. When you type a few more words, the keyboard freezes up. Instagram now notifies users of a screenshot only if the image or video is sent on Instagram Direct.
As Instagram becomes ever more popular, it's also becoming more and more like Facebook, and that's, to be honest, kind of scary.
