Notre Dame will be dogged by two bad losses - Ball State and IN - when the selection committee considers its bid moving forward. Reed ultimately scored three runs in five innings during the win in game one against NC State.

Then the injuries started rolling in.

Colson missed 15 games with a broken foot, and Notre Dame lost nine of them. But the wild card is the Irish played seven of the games without Colson and one without both him and Farrell.

Not everything went according to plan for the Blue Devils.

Duke ranks 31st in steals per game (7.6) while Notre Dame ranks 164th (5.8). "[Bagley and Carter] rebound at a level above the rim that I haven't seen in college basketball". He made only 1 of 6 shots for 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.

The team's heart-and-soul, seniors Matt Farrell and Colson, combined for seven points on 3-of-17 shooting.

If Notre Dame attacks the zone well and gets open looks the Irish have no shortage of shooters on their team. They forced help, made some threes. The three ball killed Notre Dame early in the game and they could not shut down Virginia Tech.

Grayson Allen is trying to make the most of his final games at Duke.

Notre Dame won 71-65. All of whom have been to the Elite 8 and know how to handle all the postseason pressure in March.

With Bagley dominating the paint and Allen hitting shots from beyond the arc, the fifth-ranked Blue Devils (26-6) pulled away after halftime to coast to an 88-70 win in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Despite the injuries, Notre Dame never missed a beat until the ACC Tournament final.

Katie Beriont (3-4) spun a three-up, three-down inning for the Notre Dame defense in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Freshman ACC Player of the Year was just one point shy of his career-high, set against Texas in late November. "They need to sort of be a little less cerebral and a little bit more instinctual in terms of the way that they pitch and compete". (14.1) and Trevon Duval (10.4).

"But I feel good about our team and I feel good about our kids and they'll show up and they'll play hard at the end of the day". This means that Marvin Bagley will have to match up with the bruising Lithuanian Martinas Geben.

"It's a position we're not used to, and it is one that we're really enjoying right now", McGraw said. Torres isn't a threat offensively like Geben, but he's built like an National Football League linebacker.

He also couldn't play as aggressive as usual while trying to avoid fouling out. It's recently resurrected senior leader, Bonzie Colson, appeared a worn out, shell of himself after missing almost two months with a broken foot. They certainly could have gone deeper into the tournament than a 2nd round loss - on the road - to an eventual Final Four team in SC, but there were never going to be a complete enough team to threaten six straight wins. Colson attacked at all opportunities, and finished with 18 points. But with Bagley doing damage inside and senior Grayson Allen (23 points) owning the perimeter, the Irish didn't stand a chance. Allen will most likely be guarded by Notre Dame's Rex Pflueger. Carolina is 8-2 over its last 10 contests.

Notre Dame kept hope alive.

Regardless, the Irish took advantage.
