A time and venue for the historic first meeting between the countries' two leaders has not been announced but it is supposed to take place by the end of May. In an interview en route to the Middle East, Defence Secretary Jim Mattis declined to discuss the timing and scale of the exercises.
The last reunions were in 2015, before relations deteriorated over the North's nuclear program and other issues.
