Huawei launches the most powerful camera smartphones: P20, P20 Pro

The series of portraits captures three fascinating subjects that showcase the vivid colours and stunning detail of photography delivered through the HUAWEI P20 Pro - in a greater level of detail than ever before.

Huawei Consumer Business Group has unveiled its new Huawei P20 and P20 Pro smartphones. The phone were launched at an event in Paris yesterday and are successors to last year's P10 series.

We've recently received our P20 review units, but we had some hands-on time and we can already tell these are the best Huawei smartphones yet.

The official price for the Huawei P20 in the United Kingdom is £599. The P20 Pro features 6 GB of RAM, while the P20 sticks with 4 GB. In addition, the HUAWEI FullView Display maximises the display for stunning visuals, whilst the ultra-efficient battery will keep users connected and shooting for hours. Unlike the P20 Pro, there's no home button on the Mate RS. It comes with a lot of tweaks and customisable options to customise the device as per your requirements. The chipset is also coupled with the Mali-G72 MP12 GPU for enhancing its gaming experience. MicroSD storage expansion isn't supported, however. It has a dedicated NPU for machine learning.

The Huawei P20 and P20 Pro have now been officially launched, with pre-orders opening up immediately for the new phones. However, the rear sports a Leica Triple Camera setup - 40MP RGB + 8MP Telephoto + 20MP Monochrome. Three will stock both handsets in black and the P20 Pro will also be available in midnight blue. Still being in the top 10 is a remarkable feat for the brand, which has never really made a focused, no pun intended, effort to aim for the camera gold. The Selfie camera comes with bokeh and studio-lightning effects.

Attractive colourways make the HUAWEI P20 Pro a fashionable and stylish smartphone choice, allowing users to express their personality and emotion through their handset. Both the batteries support Huawei SuperCharge fast charging as well. The third camera - an 8-megapixel tele-photo - meanwhile ships with OIS and allows for 3X optical zoom. The display utilises an AMOLED panel with a picture resolution of QHD+ with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is said to have a peak brightness of 770 nits, smaller bezels and the smaller "notch" design. The fingerprint scanner is on the front side as usual. It is powered by the Hisilicon Kirin 970 which is comparable to the Snapdragon 845, its Qualcomm counterpart. In terms of memory, the P20 features a 4GB RAM while the P20 Pro gets 6GB. Huawei Mate RS will run the Android 8.1 Oreo with Huawei's favoured EMUI 8.1 interface.

On the camera front, Huawei has introduced Triple Sensors on the Huawei P20 Pro smartphone. This setup enables 5x hybrid zoom and 960fps slow motion video shooting. Another new feature is the Huawei Phone Clone app and the Huawei Health app, which provides TruScreen heart rate monitoring, TruSleep technology etc. It gets you the ideal selfies and you can make HD video calls and can record quality videos through the selfie-shooter camera of the device.
