Former FBI director Comey likens Trump to a mafia boss

Ryan, speaking in an interview broadcast Sunday, declined to wade into the nasty feud between President Trump and James B. Comey, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director whom Trump fired a year ago and who is now promoting a book describing the experience.

So when he encountered Trump and his lackeys, Comey was struck by how much the group resembled the mob: "The silent circle of assent".

In a pair of tweets on Friday, the president called for Comey to be prosecuted for lying under oath and leaking classified information to the public.

"It was my great honor to fire James Comey", Trump tweeted.

Trump has said he fired Comey because of his handling of the FBI's investigation into Clinton's email practices. Comey said Trump was most fixated on the allegations about the prostitutes and said that Trump later asked him if he could investigate those claims. While Comey does not outline the details of the information - and says he didn't see indications of Lynch inappropriately influencing the investigation - he says it anxious him that the material could be used to attack the integrity of the probe and the FBI's independence. I was not his fan. But Comey goes farther to say that Trump, congenitally, has no sense of what is right and wrong.

Asked to describe that January 6, 2017 meeting two weeks before Trump took office, Comey said: "Really weird". The book offers Comey's version of the highly controversial events surrounding his firing by Trump and the investigations into Russian election meddling and Clinton's email practices. Mr Trump said in a series of angry Twitter messages, adding that he had been a awful Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director.

Trump has already resorted to his usual presidential rhetoric, branding Comey a "slime ball."

March 5: Comey asks the Justice Department to publicly shoot down Trump tweets accusing former President Obama of wiretapping him. Schiller testified that he stood outside Trump's hotel room for a time and then went to bed. And that I personally don't know what to believe.

Trump is reacting to Comey's new book, which compares the president to an unethical mob boss who demands loyalty and twists facts to serve his objective. Trump then requests that the men "put that recommendation in writing", according to White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

"I don't know", Mr. Comey concedes.

"James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR". Because I was operating in a world where Hillary Clinton was going to beat Donald Trump. Trump did, however, tie the firing to a Russian Federation probe that Comey was leading in a May interview with NBC's Lester Holt.

The president also seemed to be responding to the FBI raid on and court-authorized search of the office of his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, who authorities said has been under criminal investigation for months. Comey said he preached caution.

Comey compares the Trump administration to the mafia.

At the same meeting, Trump was unfamiliar with the word "calligrapher".

Stranger things have happened.

"I don't think we are surprised by the fact that James Comey continues to spread false information". He just rolled on, unprompted, explaining why it couldn't possibly be true, ending by saying he was thinking of asking me to investigate the allegation to prove it was a lie.
