Iran calls attack on Syria crime, warns of unspecified consequences

Trump ordered the strikes to punish the Assad government for an alleged chemical weapons attack on a rebel-occupied area near Damascus last weekend that reportedly killed more than 40 people, including children.

Assad told his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani that a USA -led attack on Saturday would increase Syria's resolve to "fight and crush terrorism in every inch" of the country.

Russian Federation has requested a UN Security Council meeting over the recent airstrikes which targeted three chemical weapons research and production facilities in Syria during the early hours of Saturday.

Trump characterized it as the beginning of a sustained effort to force Assad to "stop using banned weapons", but only ordered a limited, one-night operation that hit three targets, New York Times reported.

The "attack on Syria is a crime".

Iran has been Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's most supportive ally against insurgents throughout the conflict.

"This is unprecedented in seven years: that Israel directly targets Iran's Revolutionary Guards", Nasrallah said.

Israel says in response to the American-led strike in Syria that the Middle Eastern country's "murderous actions" put itself in danger.

"The attack this morning against Syria is a crime", Khamenei said in remarks published on his Telegram channel. According to a Syrian government official, around 30 missiles were fired in the attack, and a third of them were shot down. The IDF stressed that the drone was detected by Israel's aerial defense system when it took off from the T-4 airbase in Syria and was being tracked by the Israeli Air Force. We thank them both.

The United States, along with assurance from France and the United Kingdom, launched a response Friday against the regime of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad days after his government allegedly used chemical weapons on its citizens.

He added that the USA military is not aware of any civilian deaths.

The Iranian Supreme leader said this crime of America and its allies will result in nothing. He's also going to hold the Russians and the Iranians who are propping up this regime responsible.

It was the second strike that Trump has authorized in response to such an attack, after ordering a strike on a Syrian air base previous year following a chemical weapons attack that also left dozens of people dead. "Insulting the President of Russian Federation is unacceptable and inadmissible", he added.
