Things to Know About the Comey Memos

Comey's interview with Maddow on Thursday came just a few hours after Giuliani announced that he was joining Trump's legal defense team in the Russian Federation collusion investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump fired James Comey in May of a year ago.

"It was my great honor to fire James Comey!".

Lest one imagines an elaborate conspiracy to fabricate detailed conversations, the memos confirm what Trump has long denied: that he pressured Comey to drop the investigation into then-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's contacts with Russian Federation, and that he repeatedly demanded Comey's personal loyalty.

The memos, in which Trump was also shown to be speaking in unflattering terms about General Michael Flynn, his former national security adviser who has been subsequently charged by Mueller, were provided to Congress at the demand of House Republicans - who thought they would undermine Comey and the Trump investigation. A few days later, CNN broke the news about the dossier with the hook that Comey had briefed Trump about it.

Instead, the political world's eyes were on former FBI Director James Comey, beginning on Sunday night when he sat down with ABC's George-Stephanopoulos.

Trump has denied any collusion and has called Mueller's investigation a witch hunt. Copies of the book were obtained by news outlets on Thursday.

One day after his resignation, Trump told Comey during a private meeting in the Oval Office that he hoped the FBI would let go of its investigation into Flynn.

Mr Comey has painted Mr Trump as "morally unfit" to be USA president, and suggested he may have obstructed justice by trying to pressure him into dropping any investigation into Mr Flynn. We now know that McCabe is a liar, and that he hosted a meeting in his office that included Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and perhaps others, in which senior members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation fretted about the remote possibility that Trump might actually win the election.

Mr Trump's legal worries have recently expanded beyond the Mueller probe to include a criminal investigation in NY of the president's personal lawyer Michael Cohen, whose home and offices were raided by the FBI on 9 April.

"Why did he lie to Congress (jail)", Mr Trump tweeted earlier this month, adding: "How come he gave up classified information (jail)". And since A Higher Loyalty provoked a bidding war among publishers and the victor, Macmillan, ordered an initial print run of 850,000 copies-more than five times Michael Wolff's Fire and Fury received in its first run-it looks like it could be on the bestseller list for quite some time.

"Former FBI director James Comey walks through a corridor on the way to a secure room to continue his testimony to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, June 8, 2017". "The President brought up the "Golden Showers thing" and said it really bothered [him] if his wife had any doubt about it".

The dossier was compiled by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele about Trump's ties to Russian Federation and included an allegation that involved prostitutes urinating on one another in a hotel room while Trump watched. Also, he leaked classified information. WOW! "He has deceived the American people and I must say he has diluted himself", he said on "Hannity". "It was nearly an out-of-body experience for me".
