Bangabandhu Satellite-1 Mission

Bangabandhu Satellite-1 Mission

SpaceX launches most powerful Falcon 9 rocket yet

Manufactured by Thales Alenia Space in France, the Bangabandhu 1 communications satellite has a weight of nearly 4 Tons (over 3.5 Metric Tons), and will offer data relay services and C-band & Ku-band television broadcast all over Bangladesh and surrounding areas.

The new "Block 5" Falcon 9 rocket took off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida at 4:14 p.m. EDT (20:14 GMT) and performed a flawless satellite launch that erased the memory of yesterday afternoon's boggled attempt.

The "Block 5" booster, the last significant upgrade to SpaceX's Falcon 9 launch vehicle, was introduced from NASA's Kennedy Space Centre on its first trip on Friday.

According to SpaceX founder Elon Musk, block 5 Falcon 9 rockets should be able to fly 10 or more times in a row with little to no maintenance. Richardson joined our team shortly thereafter. His passion for space ignited when he watched Space Shuttle Discovery launch into space October 29, 1998. NASA requires seven successful flights before the new rocket receives final certification for a manned mission.

Total number of operating satellites is now 1,738. Musk said his engineering talent will now focus their resources on getting the BFR up and running, and eventually ferrying humans into space. Rahman was a key player in the nation's push for independence, which was achieved in 1971, and served as Bangladesh's first president. They have also kept the requests of Air Force in mind. If all goes as planned, SpaceX would fly the same rocket twice in a single day in 2019, which would be another first for the company.

It's now recovered boosters back on land or sea 25 times. That only leaves one massive project left for SpaceX - BFR. Bangabandhu-1 is our first own satellite, which is now on its way to orbit. Each improved Falcon 9 "is capable of at least 100 flights", according to Musk, CNBC said.

Thales Alenia Space is prime contractor for the turnkey system, in charge of the design, construction, testing and in-orbit delivery of the satellite. "And then as our launch rate increases, we can further optimize the per-launch costs".

Once it reaches 119.1° East longitude, the satellite will provide direct-to-home (DTH) services, video distribution, and very small aperture terminal (VSAT) communications across Bangladesh.
