The first image in question is of London's Big Ben which has been edited to show the apparent date using the same colour as its previous tweet aimed at Walmart. It was the last project by John Carmack, the founder of id Software. The latest tweet was actually a little less cryptic from the Rage account stating "C:DesktopVideosAnnounceTrailerMonday".
The clock hands were pointing at 5:14, though some of the clock was defaced with pink paint.
Of course, in true video game fashion, Twitter user Wario64, who also provided the world with a screenshot to Walmart Canada's leak, managed to get his hands on the official teaser trailer before it landed. That fact had already been leaked by Walmart, but now the teaser trailer below has appeared online as well.
Since nowadays publishers can't seem to keep big reveals into their trousers, looks like a short version of the announcement trailer of Rage 2 has leaked on YouTube. What did you think of the game?
Whether it was a careful choice or not, it's hard to know, but now we're here. The trailer doesn't reveal any platforms so we will have to wait for the official reveal which is due later today.
It's not unusual for Bethesda to give the game away before actually unveiling anything, though chances are we'll see more information about what all these teases add up to at E3 2018.
