Apple’s WWDC 2018: What to Watch For

The WWDC 2018, just like its predecessors, will give us our first glimpse of the new iPhone and the Mac softwares.

According to several reports, Apple plans to announce new versions of its many operating systems, including iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

Despite the excitement surrounding the WWDC each year, during 14 of the past 15 conferences, Apple shares have fallen over the course of the five-day event.

It's today, Monday June 4.

The big event takes place in San Jose, California with things getting underway at 10am local time (6pm BST). This year, we may see some interesting new products.

Conferences such as this can also act as a competitive yardstick to show how firms are progressing on developing technologies.

We're also running a WWDC live blog in real-time so you can keep up with our commentary on the event as it happens. However, unlike iOS updates in the past, iOS 12 may be more focused on refinement rather than offering a bunch of new features.

Apple is also expected to roll out new "Digital Health" software that's created to soothe our tech addiction by allowing us to monitor how much time we spend on our phones.

Bloomberg notes that Apple's long-promised parental controls will likely be tied into iOS 12's Digital Health feature, too. Also, the same can only be streamed on Safari browser on this link.

Own an Apple TV? This release of the company's mobile operating system will be all about quality and responsiveness - thus, big new stuff such as a redesigned Home screen, an AI upgrade for the Photos app, and new file management tools for iPads, are only coming in 2019. The latter is becoming especially important as Apple leans more heavily on services - which require more ongoing collaboration than a gadget does - to make its money.

You can still watch on Microsoft Edge, but the company will now let you watch on recent versions of Google Chrome or Firefox as well.

In case you want to watch or follow the WWDC 2-18 from India, here is how you will be able to do it. Once it's live, open VLC, press Media, then press Open Network Stream... and paste in the URL and hit play.

We know that the software will bring us more than 100 new emojis.
