"Camera launches up to 70 percent faster, the keyboard appears up to 50 percent faster and typing is more responsive". At last year's WWDC, we had quite a lot of new hardware announced, especially the HomePod, a new iMac Pro and a new iPad Pro.
A new iOS section called Screentime will allow users to limit how much they use their iPhone and iPad. So, for example, if you are attending an event at your daughter's local school and don't want to be pestered while you are there, then this function allows you do that while in its grounds. Expect some new AR demos, too.
The Photos app has improved search and includes suggestions.
New features help protect users' anonymity online. Photos are shared in full resolution, and this feature makes use of iMessage's end-to-end encryption and iPhone's on-device machine learning. Some apps, like the core phone-calling function and education programs, can be available at all times. Apple, however, didn't discuss improvements to Siri's underlying technology, which has been criticized by some users. With this users could jump to information about an upcoming trip by using a shortcut into the Kayak app.
Apple has also made some updates to the Apple News and Stocks apps.
And, once you take your screenshots, they don't have to clutter up your desktop anymore, with a new feature called "Stacks", which can automatically organize cluttered desktops by grouping like files together.
iOS' notification system can get really frustrating, and Apple will be doing something about it in iOS 12.
In iPhone, iPad, and Mac software updates later this year, Apple's default Safari web browser will show a pop-up window asking users for permission before loading share buttons from social networks including Facebook.
Aside from that, Siri will be able to perform a series of tasks through the new Shortcuts app.
Reports in the U.S. suggest Apple could introduce a tool to help users better manage their time on their devices as part of efforts to improve digital well-being. When enabled, the notification screen that you see when you wish to peek at the time in the middle of the night, will only include essentials such as the time and the weather. It will be possible to group notifications from same app into one notification and customise notifications from the lock screen. The next day, Apple will present a more calming "morning screen", displaying the weather instead of a stressful list of junk you've got to catch up on. It'll also keep tabs on which apps send you notifications.
We'll find out more in a few hours time but the iPhone isn't the only device that will see some changes. This extends to the whole family, as parents can setup app limits for children and get reports on their activity.
