Klay Thompson played in his NBA-high 390th game over the last four seasons.
But the series is all but over.
"They're going to come out just gunslinging". Whether that's Houston, Philadelphia or the Los Angeles, James could form the next "Super Team", and that might be the best way to combat the Golden State machine. "[KD's] one of the best players I've ever played against [and] that this league has ever seen". There simply aren't enough LeBron-, Durant-, Curry-, Harden-like talents to go around, thus the limited amount of contenders.
Same goes for the Rockets, who had a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference finals before Chris Paul's injury.
Have a scroll through to look at their numbers.
Instead, Cleveland is only left to wonder if James is a game from leaving. "He heads up the Cool As..." Tristan Thompson, who recorded eight points and seven rebounds Wednesday, was visibly and understandably flustered as he exited. But the delegates on each player's side have already made their voices heard.
Curry is the "change" candidate.
Cleveland did what it had been saying it would do for two days - come out better on home court - and the Cavs led for the entire first half, thanks in part to bad shooting from the Warriors. NBA Finals MVP was Curry's honor to lose.
Conversely, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were all smiles, laughs and jokes in the hallway outside the locker room as they awaited their turn at the podium as late-night became midnight and beyond.
After some contentious calls in the first two games, the official Twitter account of the National Basketball Association referees tweeted during game three to confirm James' pass to himself off the backboard was legal. They defeated the Warriors 137-116 in Game 4 behind 40 points from Kyrie Irving and 24 made three-pointers. Golden State with like 100 superheroes and then Houston with 100 superheroes and they fight.
"We want a different outcome", Warriors guard Shaun Livingston said.
Durant is the incumbent candidate.
Durant was an All-Star for the Warriors yet again this season, averaging 26.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 68 games. Last year, Cleveland managed to win Game 4 before losing the next game-and the Finals-in Golden State. The rim grew wide for the Cavaliers' role players. Reminiscent of last year's pretty great Game 3 effort, Durant scored a playoff career-best 43 points on Wednesday to help seal the deal in the minds of many that the GSW will be the ones holding the trophy in the end. On the night, 12 of his 15 makes were contested and four were from beyond 30 feet. With its Game 3 win, Golden State tied LeBron's Miami Heat for the most playoff series with at least one road win (19). Like James, Durant is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract and hit the free agent market in July.
"I'm sure LeBron wouldn't accept that". "LeBron certainly thinks so, since he said "everybody knew" Durant was destined for greatness "... except Portland".
If Durant has his way, LeBron won't have the option. He totaled 11 points, and two of those came on free throws after the game was out of reach.
The subtext of Game 4 will be whether this is LeBron's last game in Cleveland. "It's the first team to four wins, right?"
