The G7 endorsed Britain's accusation that Moscow was behind the poisoning attack in the southwest of England on former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. The Skripals were in critical condition for weeks before recovering.
Before departing the White House for the G-7 Summit in Charlevoix, Quebec, early Friday morning, Trump told reporters that he believed Russian Federation should be readmitted to the group.
The president made the suggestion to reporters at the White House just before leaving for Canada to attend the annual meeting of the G-7, a gathering that already was promising to be crackling with tension over trade, Iran and Mr. Trump's sharp-edged approach to foreign leaders.
Trump had said Saturday that re-admitting Russian Federation to the elite club would be "an asset", telling reporters, "We're looking for peace in the world".
"We will be happy to see everyone in Moscow", Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a news conference in Qingdao, where the SCO summit took place.
Earlier during the visit, President Mamnoon held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, where the two leaders held in-depth discussions related to Pakistan-China bilateral relations and regional and global issues of mutual interest.

He emphasized the need for the group to closely follow the situation in Afghanistan to fend off the threats posed by militants in the country.
Meanwhile, in Canada, a growing rift between the United States and its most important allies was on full display.
Iran, now an observer member of the SCO, has sought since 2008 to become a full member of the China- and Russia-led security group.
Trump will skip part of the summit on Saturday as he travels to Singapore to meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un in hopes of resolving the North Korean nuclear crisis.
"Both countries really use their relationship to showcase [that] there is an alternative to the American hegemony, and they've been doing that for a while even before Trump", she said.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Tehran would not abandon the JCPOA and would continue to comply with its obligations.
The location of the Sunday summit, Qingdao, China, is approximately 400 miles southeast of Beijing.
In his meeting with Putin, Rouhani said a "more serious and important" dialogue between Russian Federation and Iran was needed regarding the nuclear deal following Washington's "illegal" withdrawal from the pact, according to a Kremlin transcript. "And if it's not fixed, then we're not going to deal with these countries".
