Police had surveillance videos to use to help catch the alleged murderer.
A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of up-and-coming USA rapper XXXTentacion, who was gunned down in Florida on Monday, police said on Thursday. On Thursday, suspect Dedrick Devonshay Williams was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Last November, Williams was arrested on charges of cocaine possession and possessing a weapon while being a convicted felon.
Though Williams' inmate record describes the charge as "murder risky depraved (without) premeditation", the arrest warrant accused Williams of killing the rapper "from a premeditated design".
XXXTentacion was leaving RIVA Motorsports in his BMW when he was fatally shot Monday afternoon in Deerfield Beach, Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said.
Although initial reports said Onfroy was taken to the hospital in a "comatose" state, investigators now believe he died instantly.
Grandmaison says XXXTentacion's death will not be the end of his cultural impact.
It prompted Los Angeles police to declare the vigil an unlawful assembly. (The dealership lists its address as Pompano Beach). His social media accounts also make it look like he's a father-of-two and worked as a tattoo artist under the name "Tattooman Chucky". An arrest has since been made. In that statement, the sheriff's office also noted it would offer a $3,000 reward for information that led to an arrest.
Geneva Ayala, XXXTentacion's ex-girlfriend and abuse accuser, attended the memorial.
